What you see on screen:
(No error message - the avatar hovers above the ground in VRChat)
What it means
VRChat places your body using the avatar's origin (its feet) and its eye height (View Position). If either is off, the avatar floats.
Common causes
- The avatar object isn't at (0, 0, 0), or it's rotated
- The View Position is too high or too far forward (VRChat notes that avatars with unusually large heads can lift their feet when looking up and down)
- The model was imported with its feet above the origin
- The Humanoid rig maps Hips or leg bones to the wrong bones
- A custom Base or Action animation moves the body
How to fix it
- Select the avatar in the Hierarchy and set Transform Position and Rotation to 0 (leave Scale alone)
- Move the View Position on the Avatar Descriptor back between the eyes
- Look at the scene from the side and check the soles of the shoes sit on the ground (Y = 0)
- Open the model's Rig > Configure and check the Hips and leg bones
- Upload a test copy without recently added gimmicks to see if one of them is the cause

For this problem, it checks that the Humanoid rig and Avatar Descriptor are set up (it doesn't measure View Position or foot height).
