What you see on screen:
(No error message - your eye level in VRChat is off, or you see from inside the face)
What it means
Your camera in VRChat sits at the View Position set on the Avatar Descriptor. If it's away from the eyes, your eye level, mirror view and sense of distance feel wrong.
Common causes
- The View Position was left at its default
- The avatar was resized but the View Position wasn't updated
- The View Position is inside the head or too far in front of the face
How to fix it
- Select the avatar and press Avatar Descriptor > View > Edit in the Inspector
- Move the ball between the eyes (slightly in front of them when seen from the side)
- For avatars with very large heads, place it closer to where a normal-sized head's eyes would be
- Press Return and upload again
Before you change anything, make a full copy of your project folder so you can go back.
